Three Common Maintenance Issues Every Pool Owner Faces That Require Expert Help

Manuel Douglas

Owning a pool in Australia is a massive luxury that a lot of people aspire to, but when you end up with one you begin to realise there is a lot more to it than simply enjoying relaxing by it during summer. Pools require constant work and while a lot of that can be done by following simple instructions most manufacturers give you, some of it does require expert help. These issues can range from structural ones to lesser-known tips that could just save you from problems in the years to come, so here is a quick lesson in what swimming pool maintenance you should leave to the experts.

Draining The Pool

If you ever need to drain your pool to clean it or check on anything inside, then you need to do this with a lot of care. If you simply drain the water out of the pool into the surrounding ground around it, then you can cause a major issue where the pool itself gets pushed out of position. This is a strange phenomenon caused by the pressure of the water and one that is hard to wrap your head around until you actually see it in person. While it may sound funny, this is an expensive repair job waiting to happen, so make sure when draining a pool you have a swimming pool maintenance expert with you.

Cracks

Depending on what type of pool you have, cracks can form in different ways. In concrete pools, they are slightly more obvious, but in above ground pools that have different plastic levels and protections, it can be hard to tell if there is a crack or not. If you ever have even the slightest inkling that you have a crack in your pool, you need to call for a professional immediately. This is both to minimise the damage as well as figure out a way to patch it up and prevent it from happening again because the same structural issue could be there if you try to fix it on your own.

Mechanical Issues

If you ever have anything malfunction on the mechanical side of your pool's maintenance, such as pumps, filters or any connection into the pool itself, then it is best to leave that to someone who has experience handling it. Mechanical issues are very finicky, and trying to fix them on your own is asking for trouble. There are many ways in which you can prevent these problems, such as by keeping up with regular servicing, removing everything from filters and acting fast in the event anything does change, but once a problem does occur, you need to call in the cavalry.

Pool Contractors: Everything You Need to Know

Welcome to this pool contractor blog. On this site, I aim to explore just about every question you could possibly have about hiring a pool contractor. So whether you are renting, buying or maintaining a pool, I hope you find this blog post interesting and useful! A pool contractor is the person who can deal with the maintenance of your pool as well as the purchase and replacement of new equipment such as coverings, fountains, filters, pumps and valves. Many pool contractors will also design and build swimming pools. I don't work in this industry but I've done lots of research when writing articles for this blog!
